DAY 1

RESISTANCE & SACRIFICE

PREKAZ

After a short historical overview, travel to Prekaz and the Adem Jashari Memorial Complex. Learn about the battle that turned the Jashari family into a lasting symbol of resistance and the role of Prekaz in shaping modern Kosovar identity.

SOUTH MITROVICA

Enjoy a relaxed lunch with time for questions, open conversation, and exchange of perspectives before the visit to South Mitrovica begins with particular attention to the Iber Bridge, a symbolic landmark marking the division between the northern and southern parts of the city. Focus on post-conflict realities, coexistence, and ongoing challenges.

DAY 2

THE TURNING POINT

REÇAK

Visit the village where the massacre of Albanian civilians drew global attention and shifted the trajectory of the war. Walk the memorial grounds and hear the story that moved the world and accelerated international intervention.

PRIZREN

Enjoy vineyard and rural views en route to Prizren, Kosovo’s cultural capital. Lunch in the city center offers time for informal conversation in a vibrant atmosphere. Experience the city’s diverse architectural and spiritual heritage. Explore the old city center with its iconic fountain, then ascend Prizren Castle for panoramic views over the city.

DAY 3

LOSS & REBIRTH

MIRUSHA WATERFALLS

Begin with a scenic drive to the Mirusha Waterfalls, known for cascading limestone canyons and emerald pools. Enjoy time to explore, take photos, and immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings.

MEJA MEMORIAL

Visit the Meja Memorial, the site of the largest massacre of 1999. Walk among the graves and learn about the civilians who were separated, executed, and deported, and the community’s long search for its missing.

GJAKOVA

Lunch on Qabrrat Hill with panoramic views over the city and surrounding landscape. Explore Gjakova, home to the largest Ottoman-influenced bazaar in the Balkans. Stroll cobblestone streets, visit Hadum Mosque and a historic Tekke, then return to Prishtina for reflection and informal discussion.

DAY 4

RESILIENCE & REBUILDING

KRUSHA E MADHE & VOGËL

Visit villages where hundreds of men were killed, regardless of age. Reflect at memorial sites in Krusha e Vogël, and in Krusha e Madhe learn how war widows rebuilt their lives through collective agriculture and entrepreneurship. Visit the local museum and, when possible, hear personal stories of loss and perseverance.

LUNCH & WINERY

Enjoy a traditional lunch featuring local dishes, then visit a local winery to learn about Kosovo’s wine culture and sample wine. Return to Prishtina for reflection and informal discussion.

DAY 5

REFLECTION TO RENEWAL

GLLOGJAN

Gllogjan is a village in Kosovo known for its fierce resistance during the 1998–1999 war, where heavy fighting between the Kosovo Liberation Army and Serbian forces left a lasting mark on the land and its people. Its battlefields symbolize resistance, while the fallen represent sacrifice, making Gllogjan a powerful place of remembrance and reflection within Kosovo’s war and dark tourism landscape.

DUBRAVA PRISON

Explore Dubrava Prison from a distance near Istog, once used to detain ethnic Albanian civilians and political prisoners. The site continues to serve as a prison.

WHITE DRIN

Enjoy lunch near the White Drin River, then visit Radavc Waterfall, the limestone cave, and the river’s source, where crystal-clear waters emerge from dramatic rock formations. Conclude with a return to Prishtina and final questions and reflections.
